[Assam] Clarification from CM regading 3rd Govt Engineering College at Assam

  The Honorable Chief Minister, Assam
   
  Dear Sir,
   
  Last 15th June 07; you went to Dhemaji to inaugurate the martyrs' column built in memory of the 13 blast victims of August 15, 2004 incident at Dhemaji College field.
  
Different organization of Dhemaji gave memorandum to you demanding an Engineering College at Dhemaji.
  
You told that there is no planning of opening new engineering colleges at Assam, You also told that you are ready to give 30% money and land if anyone comes to establish an Engineering College at Dhemaji.
  
But, on the 8th March'07 Education Minister declared that there will be a 3rd Govt. Engineering College at Assam.
   
  We people of Dhemaji demanding the 3rd Govt. Engineering College to be established at Dhemaji.
   
  The people of Dhemaji have alleged that they have become scapegoats of the shrewd politicians. Politicians, bureaucrats, very often took the advantage of the poor people of this district. It is a zero industry district. There are a few schools and colleges in the name of higher institution. It is alleged that whenever the people of the district demand something for Dhemaji, the demand is outright rejected saying there is no communication, it is a flood-affected district etc etc. But for the last 5 years there is neither flood nor any communication problem. BRO has constructed the Bogibeel embankment to solve the flood problem. Remarkably, the NHPC project of 2000 MW is going to be completed soon. Hundreds and thousands of acres of barren lands are lying uselessly, so now there is good infrastructure in the district for establishing any sort of industry or higher technical institutions. The Government of India has instructed the State Government to extend all possible help
 to the backward district like Dhemaji in line with other districts of Assam. 
   
  We, people of Dhemaji want the clarification  from you regarding 3rd Govt Engineering College at Assam.
