BJP to push for declaration of influx as national problem
By our Staff Reporter
GUWAHATI, July 25: The BJP is going to raise the issue of infiltration into Asom from Bangladesh in the ensuing monsoon session of Parliament slated from August 10 and persuade the Centre to declare it as a national problem.
An assurance in this regard has been given by Opposition leader Lal Krishna Advani to an Asom Bharatiya Janata Yuba Morcha (BJYM) delegation, led by its president Dilip Saikia, which met Advani in New Delhi today. This was stated by Chandan Sharma, general secretary of the Asom BJYM, while talking to The Sentinel this evening.
He said the delegation has apprised Advani of the recent exodus of people of suspected nationality from Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Mizoram to Asom. The BJYM leaders also drew the attention of Advani on the recent illegal settlement of suspected Bangladeshis at Kashipara and Bhotgaon in BTAD, he said, adding that the Leader of Opposition assured them of taking up the matter with the Centre. BJYM national vice-president Ashok Sharma, morcha’s national council member Ranjit Das and State unit general secretary Mriganka Barman were also part of the delegation.
