Dear Mukulda
I think Hirenda has created a good voice in his article simply by telling the plain truth of the present state of political affaires in Assam in a very unbiased manner. I don't think I need to go over and quote various aspects from his article, but the following may be one such voice which can be taken as example.
"Acting on the perception that ULFA has now been brought up against a wall, the Assam government is trying to suppress what it calls "the overground ULFA" by which it seems to mean not so much organised groups of political supporters as miscellaneous journalists, human rights activists, lawyers pleading for arrested ULFA cadres in bail cases and so on "
The article also explains many other aspects of present state of affairs such as the true center-sate relations, the true perspective of present investments, corruption, etc..
This voice is important because I donot think Hirenda is neither a friend of ULFA nor a friend of the present administration but he is simply an intellectual and a distinguished Assamese literary and social critic. This makes his voice more creditable. I can understand if neither the pro ULFA nor the pro Govt people would like the voice simply because his voice may not support their views and would consider the voice rather mild for their need. But as a lover of Assam and the North East, I think we need such balanced and enlightened voice from our intellectuals.
The article also serves another great purpose for Hirenda. Frankly speaking, this article coming out of the pen of an leftist seem to me a breadth of fresh air simply because it does not have any stereotype, outdated and often boring leftist smells. I would request Hirenda to keep up his balanced voice at such level which will be a great contribution to the whole of Assam.
Thanks
Rajen
