   Bihu delights localites in Kolkata

   KOLKATA, April 18: Under the banner of âAssam Socio Literary Clubâ the
   Asomiya residents of Kolkata celebrated Rongali Bihu with great festivity
   and funfair at Bharatiya Bhasha Parishad auditorium of Shakespeare Sarani
   here. This was stated in a press release.

   Ms Mandira Lahiri, renowned singer along with Amlan Baruah, president of ASL
   Club and Trade Adviser of Assam House Kolkata inaugurated the function. They
   expressed their hope that such type of festivity will expand the cultural
   scenario of Asom as well as strengthen cultural bond between Asom and
   Bengal.

   The main attraction of the evening was Bihu troop performing by members of
   Assam House Recreation Club, Kolkata and participated by the junior
   dancersâ Roselin, Akriti, Sonali and their senior partners Sanghati and
   Anindita led by Sayeed Jinnah and Nareshwar Deka, enthralled the audience by
   their captivating Bihu performance.

   The whole programme was conducted by Royal Ahmed, Prakash Acharya, Nabakumar
   Pathak and Pranab Baruah. The chorus performed by Asomiya Ladies Club of
   Kolkata, Bihu Song by Swapnanil Kashyap, Debasis Goswami, Kashmira Kakaty
   and Dipankar Bhattacharjee mesmerized the audience by their melodious voice.
   The local people expressed their gratitude and admiration to the cultural
   Asomiya performance and expressed that this type of programme will continue
      in near future.
