Dear Umesh
Can anyone comment on facts? They speak for themselves. However, the US media and intelligentsia too are known for not carrying facts and suppression of facts. Like, when it aided killing 800000 civilians in Indonesia, when it aids killing civilian population in Israel occupied territories in the mid east, when it topples government in Chile, bombs Afghan tribes .......... all to get subservient government to open the country for its loot after decapitating the resistance. 'No bid' agreement between Exxon, Mobil, BP and Chevron to carve Iraq into four zones for rights to oil at 60:40 basis is a recent case in point. Any system that thrives on loot of other countries will succeed. Especially when it cannot be brought to books, as it is the only gendrame of the world with a military expenditure that outstrips about a dozen countries next following taken together and its doctrine does not allow any other country in the world to shield itself from
its capabilities like the space warfare. I personally thought that Soviet Union was never a communist ( as per definition of the term) country, as it always followed the footsteps of Uncle Sam in its agression in other countries, it too looted India and other countries and it killed with impunity, like the Nazis and like the US after the world war. It was the propaganda of the US that made it a 'communist' country and this hype' Russians are coming' put the fear of death into the gullible American populace and they gave the administrations to go ahead with huge military expenditure and intervention in other countries on that plea.

Subject: [Assam] Soviet/Russian Invasions : Afhganistan, Georgia
Hi,
In light of curent invasion of Georgia by Russia (erstwhile USSR/Soviet Union) I was wondering if anyone remembered Afghanistan invasion by USSR in 1978 - the year my fathher left(resigned ) Indian army to start a school. I was in 2nd grade - I think too young to remember any country other then India.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soviet_war_in_Afghanistan
I do remember the fall of USSR, I was in the process of going to college and saw history face-to-face. What they taught in economics and history book - USSR and Communist economic system's success (in Delhi Univ., JNU etc) was being negated in newspapers like the http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/ and the newsmedia.
Any comments?
Umesh
