See, I did not talk of the official language of any state, but the misuse of the word Assamese by the vested interest groups for furthering their own gains. If u understand something esoteric than what a common people will understand then it is ur problem and not mine. Assam has a very complex language structure and cannot be the monopolies of the persons who only speaks of Assamese. In what way Assam is formed does not matter much, but whenever it was formed it consisted of other linguistic communities as well---be it Bengalis or Nagas or Kukis. It is because if a Khasi or a Naga lives in Assam he will not call himself to be Assamese but otherwise. In a similar fashion if a Bengali stays in Tamil Nadu will he be called an Tamil, even if Tamil is the official language of Tamil Nadu?? This is absolutely ridiculous and is an outrageously false statement. What I mean to say is that a Tamil living in any part of the India is a Tamil and
an Indian. This is nothing to do with the state language.... ... What u do or is doing in other part of India is not my concern and if you are doing something good it needs to be appreciated. They will take up guns and do all these nonsense what is happening today in North East. Instead of going for competition or competing with the rest of India, these fools have taken the easy route to scare people out of Assam.....How long it will work is anybodies guess in the world of globalisation. Is Assam out of India and for ur kind information the freedom fighters of India, fought the British to make India a Free Country and that included Assam, Bengal, Punjab and other states and union territories as well. How can u say that Assam should have ONLY Assamese as the state language when it according to the recent census report it is almost in the verge of becoming a minority language in Assam??? Just go through the recent Census Report...... .Of
course I do not have any problem which language becomes a state language as long as the language is not abused by a section of people for their vested interests. It is because in Assam we have such multitude of problem which is hindering its developments. Do u have such problems in Begal, Orissa, Rajasthan etc. Don't we have people of other linguistic communities there...??? Shall we say some day that because Jagmohan Dalmia or Mother Teresa or Harshavardhan Neuta (Bengal Ambuja Group) or CV Raman belonged to Koltaka they are all Bengali's????? This is laughable by any standards... ...What has mother tongue to do with a State Language.... ??? Regards,
Suman Mukherjee

think this is one of the greatest jokes I have heard in my lifetime, to be a little blunt. So does this imply that, since Dr.Manmohan Singh won from Assam, he is an Assamese.... .....?? Or is Mr.Amitabh Bachchan is a Maharastrian? ?
In the same sense is Ms.Divya Balan a Keralite and now a Maharastrian? ? Next time please do not say Mr.Lakshmi Mittal or Mr.Jagmohan Dalmia, is a Bengali because they were brought up in Bengal!!
This is ridiculous and this is the root of all problems in Assam....... ....The definition of Assamese has been distorted by vested interest groups to further their own needs and aspirations. There is no connection between Hindustani/ Indian, with the word Assamese, the latter specifically denotes a community whose mother tongue is Assamese---we should be pretty clear about that........ ..
Of course there is no controversy if we understand the real meaning of the terms....... ..

Assamese has come from the word 'Assam' ; like 'hindustani' comes from 'hindustan' and 'Indian' from 'India'.There should not be any controversorry on it.
