Dear Sushanta,
I am glad to see that you have carried the concept further by saying that the federation should not be limited to the level of three countries, and should be taken one level down to the states, thereby possibly solving Assam and Kashmir issues. Could we have comments from other netters as well?
A federation like this was mulled over in the 1940's under the British with the federation configured like Canada and Australia but INC (Congress) would not settle for anything less than complete independence. At the end, of course, independence was granted at the cost of partition. The results of partition haunt the sub-continent till today.
Dilipda (I am assuming you are in your thirties or forties)

Subject: forming a federation
Dear
Friends,
I do agree with Dilip Deka.He said,''The only way India, Pakistan and Bangladesh can coexist and prosper is by erasing the artificial lines drawn by the British and forming a federation, opening the borders for easy movement of people and goods. Bangladeshi labourers are migrating and supporting the Indian economy anyway. A federation will make it legal. Kashmir problem will go away when the LOC is erased between Indian Kashmir and Pakistani Kashmir.
How about Assam? I leave that to your fertile imagination. What do you think? Will a federation (though improbable) work?" Ultimately we the people of Indian Subcontinent will have to move that way. With absolute internal autonomy we can form a Indian federation.internal autonomy for the states of Assam and Kashmir as well (Actually I'm talking about all the states that we have ) . We should be open enough to accommodate all type of aspirations of that type like Bodos, Karbis, Gorkhas of WB and so on.If we were to go to the village level that should also be done.Every higher body can look after the inter relations of its parts. It might sound like "Utopia" as Uttamda has said( though he said it a good proposal). But any dream starts its journey as being Utopia. Its a better and realisable Utopia, than 'Vanish Pakistan ' Utopia of a section of sectarian Indians. An Utopia, that can only bifurcate India further. To attain that objective we, just , will
have to broaden our heart beyond any limit.
