It may sound like a cliché but we can't deny that the future of Northeast lies in the hands of the youth. Only two things can change the world – Ideas and People. Northeast India is one unique place where we have people with vast potential and talents but it remains unexplored and undiscovered Since time immemorial,this region has been isolated from the rest of the country in many aspects in some way the other. If you take the pain to search for any cause for this problem,you will end up with some irrational answers.
 
With the advent of Web 2.0,huge quantity of informations on diverse topics are available in the world wide web. Try Google with the Keyword " Northeast India" and to your dismay you will hardly see any relevant one-stop complete information portal of the eight northeastern states ;where there is ample peoples' participation. So,with the vision of creating one-stop complete information database for this region led to the birth of www.northeastcolours.com
 
We will take it upon to devote time to highlight all the colours and dig out all the unexplored beauties of this region. We will try to accumulate each and every details of the eight Northeastern States and strive to be one reliable one stop information stock house for the people of this region and the world. There is no doubt that the Northeast India boost one of the best country sides not only in India but in the rest of the southeast Asia as well. The scenic beauty has bedazzled the best of the travelers especially since most of it remains untouched and non-commercialized like in Uttarakhand ,Ladakh or Shimla.
 
It's imperative that we revive existing indigenous culture such as our traditional folk music,traditional architecture,crafts and cuisines among others. The website will focus on all the ethnic mongoloids and non-mongoloid clans of the region and stock all the informations about their culture,social way of life ,ethnic values etc. This will open up diverse avenues for the global citizens to learn a lot about them and thus in a way fostering cultural exchanges beyond any boundaries.
 
It's also essential that we appreciate our existence before we promote it and culture can be the stepping stone in educating the world about our unique way of living. The site will also provide all the required online kit to individuals to tap the unexplored tourist spots of the region to the rest of the world and better still make some money out of it. A Rajasthani type model could be followed where the people did not build discos or IT parks to attract tourist but focused on their way of existence and marketed them to the rest of the world.
 
The people of this region are no doubt talented especially when it comes to music and creativity. This was what SRK said while lauding the actresses in his movie " Chak De India". Talent has forever been existent in this part of the world be it in music,acting,production,handicrafts and hand looms but it seems now that the people have realized this as a medium to curve out a niche for themselves. It seems quite unbelievable that largest cash incentives for rock bands is in Nagaland and not in Bangalore or Delhi. But how many of us know about our local rock or folk bands who have produced many mind enchanting melodies which often go unheard. Many talents go unnoticed either due to lack of publicity or lack of helpful resources.Northeastcolours.com will be one platform for all those untapped musicians to showcase their bold talents. As incorporating e-commerce is also under the belt,bands can use this site to publicize their original compositions and they
 will also have the option of selling their songs etc. Unique domain extension names for each bands will be given for distinct identity. If the site runs successfully then we will try to have one complete online store where traditional items can be put up for sale by people.
 
Change is inevitable be it in music,fashion,movies or art. But what is heartening to see is that we are and could be the creative capital of the country especially in music and art for the next generation,albeit some support to hone and nurture our talents. The most striking feature of this site is " PEOPLES' PARTICIPATION".It will one complete North easterner's forum not confined to a particular state or particular group of people. This platform will provide an ample chance for all the north easterners to get connected locally through the INTERNET( keeping aside facebook,orkut,linkedin for a nanosecond) and thus fostering a sense of unity. Defying boundaries,all the people should get together and engage themselves in discussions for the greater welfare of the region.
 
The site will have one forum where people can take part in discussion related to the development activities of the region. You can compare this methodology to the Bulletin Board Service prevalent in China. That concept inspired us and hopefully we come with flying colours with this experiment here too. The site will not only be one blogging or information kiosk but also act as a Citizen Journalist base where every citizen can upload,comment on any news pertaining to Northeast which either did not make its way into any mainstream media house or hidden from the general public. The application of Citizen Journalism concept is not widely seen in this part of the region(Of late NEWSLIVE news channel have started one weekly CJ segment,and www.assamtimes.org is one CJ site confined to Assam).
 
Even though there may be a few CJ websites but they are confined to particular states,there is no well maintained regional online blogging,CJ websites or forum where the youth of today have the freedom to speak up. WWW.NORTHEASTCOLOURS.COM will try to fill that void space in the days to come. Citizens can exercise their right to expression to comment and analyze any form of news. The forums will be used mainly to propagate the various reforms which requires attention at this hour for changing the outlook of NE region. Finally,peoples' voices can be heard and thus helping in every possible way to making this region a better place to live in.
 
We would like to inform you that the site will have  no affiliation to any political party or any governmental organizations. We have no fast track business model for this site as of now. The site will run on a no-profit basis and will not take any path to some earning resources unless the moderators of the site smells the need,to cover up technical expenses. Donations will be used in maintaining the functionality of the site like giving away remuneration to web masters,editors,offline reporters etc.
 
The site plans to work together with a few non-governmental organization which strives to work for the greater welfare of the people in true colours. We are also working on all the technical aspects of including one online donation space within the site so to help the people of this region at times of natural disaster,poverty etc( we won't really bother even if we maintain to collect a thousand bucks because that thousand bucks will mean a look for the people during hard times). Thus,in a way we can contribute something to the society for a better future. Instead of going out for a $3 burger in any Fast Food chain,now we will have the option of donating that money for a cause. God knows how many people of this region spend sleepless nights with their stomach unfilled. Why wait for the Govt to eradicate such problems? Can't we start doing what all is possible from our side?
 
When flood water inundates Bihar or any other states there is lots of media glare and every national media house gets into real business urging people for donations. But,it's quite different when it come to Floods or any other natural calamity ramping Northeast. This year when Flood tucked both Bihar and Assam alike,one NGO under the name www.aidindia.org was busy collecting donations for BIHAR floods. They categorically mentioned "DONATE FOR BIHAR FLOODS". What about Assam or Northeast?
 
We will also attempt to bring together all the Non-Residing North easterners under one umbrella and provide them(meant for those who really want to payback to their motherland,others,don't ever dare to read beyond this) the chance to contribute towards the developmental activities of the region. The NRN ( Non Residing Northeasterners) have an important role to play in this regard in many ways like devising effective working methodology etc.
 
These are the roughly sketched features of the proposed website of the Northeast. The original theme is still under documentation.
