England cricket players have made a very brave and courageous decision which will be hugely respected all around the world. After all who can blame them? The horror in Mumbai is not just tragic. It is a malignant devastation that has visited a country and people who were known for their hospitality calm and kindness. The players consider it as an opportunity to deliver something the whole country can buy into. We salute their decision. Their return to India for the match in Chennai to be greeted by a warm welcome at the airport. Their return was archetypically Indian but nothing out of the ordinary for this part of the world. The most amazing thing is so far it seems like any other visit to this cricket mad country. Upon their arrival the players happily headed straight for the hotel coffee shop, seemingly without a care in the world. There were also fans jostling for the glimpse of the visitors, who will be treated as heroes for their decision to return to India less than two weeks after the Mumbai massacre. It is unfortunate that cricket lovers of Guwahati will miss the one day match they were so anxiously looking forward to at the Nehru stadium last month. Rini Kakati
