It is sad that Bajaj scooter is no more !!

for a couple of years I had a Bajaj Chetak (named after the famed Arabian horse Chetak - of the great warrior MahaRana Pratap). Then I bought a Yamaha 135 - then fastest bike in India - but bad for country driving -offroads -- so back to Enfield Bullet.

As you are one of the most talented,I do agree with you and the thoughts. I just forecasted the futures....
When we was in forces, we prefer bullets,Yezdi,Jawa,All type of Bajaj scooters,Lumbretta, bicycle,Fiat, ambassador and Maruti 800.Bajaj scooter segment is finally closed and still we do maintain these as family vehicles for anything. Scooter/bike still have the pride as one can drive freely.I have my 96 make Maruti800 with 25 KMPL mileage. But where the road is, so its lying.Only I do usee for long drive.Maruti 800 are the best soundless and easy drive, maintenance free cars for cities. My Bravo scooter I get 50 kmpl now.Little maintenance gives me lot saving. Bangalore normal petrol cost is Rs.51.00 P/L.
Tata Indica are not that good at all.Weight is more and body is light..
I am happy with my Maruti car- Sanjay Gandhis dream car....
Happy Driving Umesh.Nice to know lot about your Bullet love.In India we have a group, who keep driving all over India with their al type of bullets.Sometimes I too feel to buy one and join them.. might be one day I will. And you always encourage me!!
  Bye.

  Bikash-da,

How can you be so sure that the car will be technically sound and people will buy it. If I remember correctly the Tata Indica car and other SUV models made lots of noise and had some minor problems ---only the Tata 407 truck series was able to beat DCM Toyota, Mazda, Nissan and other companies totally.

Ofcourse Indica is built tough - and if it hits the other car is totalled. So Tata seems to provide more stability and safety to passengers

My other car is TATA - for a family of parents and four kids going by scooter. If population is a problem then blame the humans -why blame the vehicles?

Good that you like motorbikes better than cars. I never bought a car for the reason that it is difficult to drive in crowded streets. Even Honda City or Hyundai Santro just go at 10 miles per hour in city traffic whereas an enterprising youth (like myself) can go at even 40 miles (60 km) per hour -- 50-80 miles per hour only on highways.

Cars in India or more like bullock carts - in city traffic whereas a motorbike is like a horse.
