  I do not know what with Rs.14 lakhs or that. But in my profession I have atleast seen scores of people ruined not only for theirs but for others corruption. At this moment, I recall one of the finest poets and a fountainhead of modern assam's poetry critics, who  died under great mental agony and disillusionment for twenty long years for such a  little amount that you'll take back your words. Sorry to disappoint you, there is nothing personal against Ripun Bora, but I cannot agree fully with you. That apart, about India, you can view it any way you please. I know you know better than that because of your own first hand experience. Yes, some people speak about crores, while a great many cannot count beyond three, because, beyond three it is infinity for them ( with due apologies to George Gamow).

That makes it even more evident (and my point clear) that somebody has 'aakhej'
on him. 

Why are they raiding his house? He was not charged with smuggling drugs or for having black money!!!!!!

People (Yes, ordinary people like us! I am not talking about Tata, Birla, Ambani...type) in India talk in crores now, what is the big deal about this or that "14 lakhs" for a minister to have in his house or in his bank?

Ripun was our classmate in Gauhati University, haven't met him for about 25+ years, but was a simple and compassionate young man then. Our other classmates now tell us that he is a politician alright, but comparatively a good one who has done good for many poor.
