It looks like a losing battle. Seems the govt is not doing enough. They seem
to react to an incident rather than have concrete measures. But again it is
India and Assam, no one is accountable.
Poachers should be shot at sight. 3-7 year jail term is of no use. When
there are so many unemployed youths in Assam, is it hard to raise a wildlife
protection force from willing and able youths?
Wildlife conservation in India is a failure. Tiger population is on the
brink of extinction. Rhinos, Leopards in Assam are facing a similar future.
One of the reasons being - people are so worried about their own existence,
wildlife conservation is just a thought and a nice idea - children come to
know about it during painting competitions, debates and it ends there.
