A number of criminals are there in the Gogoi Ministry, they alleged and reiterated their demand for resignation of Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi.> > They alleged that Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi had been patronising these criminals and hence these persons had been indulging in misdeeds.> > Addressing a press conference here this afternoon, Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) president Brindaban Goswmai alleged that at the instance of the Chief Minister some of his Ministerial colleagues were involved in a mudslinging campaign to malign the image of the Opposition parties. This has been done with the intention to divert people’s attention from the Ripun Bora episode, Goswami said. > > He also demanded an explanation from the Chief Minister on the Government’s affidavit in opposition before the Gauhati High Court to the demand for a CBI enquiry into the Daniel Topno murder case. > > Besides, the Chief Minister should also clarify his Government’s stand on the plea of the wife of Late Manabendra Sarma for a CBI enquiry into the case related to her husband’s murder, Goswami said referring to her interview to a private TV channel.> > Reiterating his party’s demand for resignation of the Chief Minister on the ground of his patronising criminals, Goswami also refuted the allegations of the Congress that AGP had also been patronising criminals. > > Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State vice president Palit Bora has also demanded a white paper from the State Government on the investigations into the incidents of murder of Pratul Deb, Manabendra Sarma and Parag Das.> > Assam United Democratic Front (AUDF) has alleged that since the second term of Hiteswar Saikia as the Chief Minister of the State, the Congress has been patronising criminals and during the seven years of Tarun Gogoi in power this practice has become more discernable. > > Addressing a pres conference here today, AUDF working president HRA Choudhury also demanded an explanation from Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi as to why he was dropped from the PV Narasimha Rao Ministry. > > Choudhury said that Ministers like Himanta Biswa Sarma, Gautam Roy and Rockybul Hussain were accused of many criminal activities. While a case diary relating to Himanta Biswa Sarma is missing, Gutam Roy is yet to be cleared in the Pratul Deb murder case.
