I think we may be splitting hairs here.

What Dilip da suggested (electability) could just as be easily substituted.

In the end, it is the substance, or what Goswami is trying to convey.

And, look at these examples - all in the context of political candidates and
the winnability factor. (from the media, both here, Manila, and in India).

I do agree that a 'winnable candidate' might convey what you suggest. It is
really interesting what a few words could convey totally different meanings
to readers - and all of them could be correct.

I don't think there is an age bias. Essentially when a party decides the
