[Assam] [News Alert] More than 20 dead after inhaling poisonous gas in Karbi Anglong

I have a younger sister. During the course of any argument she shifts grounds. It is very difficult to lead a discourse.

If we remember correctly, the question was whether we deserve to be looted. In the same way we do not want that 'profit' is to be private in the Wall Street when "loss" is to be socialised, because it is simply a loot and sheer hypocrisy of the system, we want to be treated equally. The remote part of Gujarat should demand equality with Ahmedabad, because city should not prosper at the cost of hinterland.

Even the professed aim of so called Globalisation was decentralisation of capital; but after more than a decade the net flow of capital is not towards underdeveloped world, but to the Centre. The underdeveloped world has to fight it. How does one justify huge food wastage in the US (say), when many people across the globe goes without food. Even in the US, I reckon, right at this moment, even the middle class is facing problem and just imagine how 12% poor of that country should manage.

Of course, the looters in a system would surely have their local cronies; but does it justify the loot?

Let's say that some netters have grown accustomed to blaming the centre for
all the ills plaguing Assam. If you look closely at who has cheated whom,
you will find that it's mostly the Assamese people who have cheated their
own - Congress, AGP, ULFA, Congress .... The rest of India is not a
developed heaven but is pretty much same or even worse than many parts of NE
India. If you do get a chance, visit some remote corners of so called
developed states like Gujarat. You will see that people in villages in Assam
and other parts of NE India have a better living standard than them. Tribals
of NE India are better educated and even enjoy lifestyle which is beyond the
wildest dreams of tribals in say Gujarat, Jharkhand, AP.
It's not that money is not pouring into the region. NE India probably gets
much more funding that many other states of India of similar size. But where
is the development? Where is the money going? It must be some local people
who would have siphoned off the money.
Yet we say that we have been cheated for 60 long years. You can get fooled
once, the next time you turn out a clever individual. But to be repeatedly
cheated for 60 years means that we are just too primitive to think on our
own. Or just that, we don't care.
Let's take a few examples:
- Immigrants become the majority in our land. The Govt sits back and
relaxes. Votes and political seat count more than any patriotic zeal for
motherland.
- Neighbourbouring states hell bent on usurping border areas. We sit back
and relax. After all brotherly relations have to be maintained. and why does
a few Assamese people's lives in border areas matter?
- Industries ( OIL/ONGC/ Tea ) all declared looters. Are they not employing
people, given some people some means of livelihood? If not, how are they
still operating in the region? New industries, if they decide to come to
Assam will be declared looters eventually. Is this mentality not surprising?
Infosys, Wipro, Tata, Reliance are companies of repute elsewhere in the
country but some netters will declare them looters if they decide to come to
Assam.
Why work at all, when kidnapping, extortions have become the in-thing and a
quick and easy step towards success? Any wonder why extremism has become a
large scale cottage industry in Assam, Manipur and Nagaland.
