 Friends,

*I*t’s our pleasure to present you the December issue (Volume Vii;Issue ii)
of *PRAGYAN* on the New year day. The hard copy was out for the readers in
mid December, 09. For some unavoidable reason the web Edition made it a few
days late.

The issue focused on *Ongoing Global Financial Meltdown and the Achievement
of **Chandrayaan-1.* *But gave a good coverage to the achievers like
Venkatraman Ramkrishnan, Col. Mick Fincke & Akhil Gogoi*. You will find one
writes up of VR and one interview of him take by the Noble Foundation itself
in the column ‘*Personality’*.

You will get *Mick* on the very first cover page. As you will get in you
will find our campus updaters report on our college team’s participation in
the *intercalative session on 10th September, 09 at Rabindra Bhawan at
Guwahati which was being organised by FASS*. Again, a report by the students
who met him there in ‘*Students column’*.

‘*Panorama*’ begins with coverage on *Akhil Gogoi’s* winning the Best
Citizen for RTI Awards 2009.

*The American Educationist Joseph Landsberger continues to write on Study
Guides and Strategies. The same translation by Rana Changmai and the Bengali
Translation by Sushanta Kar will again appear in his own site*.

On Career Building the issue focused on the Arts Bachelors and the Women.
It provides lots of information on scholarships in India and abroad.

Among other attractions, we hope readers would love to read the
2ndpart of Dr. Swanranlata Barua's Presidential Address at Indian
History
Congress (2006), *Harendranath Barthakur’s tribute to Actor, Director and a
great Assamese Dramatist Phani Sharma on his centenary*, Mayuri Sharma
Barua’s small piece on Girl Child and the social attitude.

Two Short Stories one in Bengali ( বুড়িটা) by a Digboi College
teacher and another a award winning story in Assamese by one of our
promising student Ambar Maran ( কৰিজমা আৰু আমিৰ) might add flavour to the
reader's taste.
