we call here  "mediation" , a process of conflict 
resolution that has been increasingly used in 
corporate America and among the general populace 
as well, as an alternative to court litigation, 
which, has become a pervasive social problem.

That is why he  re-framed his question, after 
thinking about the legal recourse he asked about 
first and
being reminded of its pitfalls :-).
