Preparations in full swing for Sahitya Sabha session

 SAMMANAY KSHETRA. Feb 9 – The final phase of preparations of the Dhemaji session of Asom Sahitya Sabha is on at Sukapha Pathar Sammanay Khestra at Dhemaji from February 14 to 18 next.

More than 80 per cent of the construction area work of the main pandal of 300 x 160 feet, book fair pandal for 300 stalls, exhibition pandal for 300 stalls, external fair pandal for 316 stalls, main gate, bhaona ghar, etc., have been completed.

The celebration committee has constructed seven roads from the session site to Bakalgaon Sumoni Road, Bokalia PWD Road, Kapahuwa Borpathoria Road, Boruachok Road, Bhadrapara Road, Civil Road, Circuit House Road for communication.

The celebration committee has been facing scarcity of ‘Tin’ to make the boundary and have been using bamboo and plywood instead. The Electricity Department, Water Supply Department, Telephone Department etc., are working in the session to facilitate the organisers.

The celebration committee has made preparations to exhibit bhaona from February 15 to 18 in Adarsha Gaon Bhaona Namghar of the conference. 

The dramas to be staged are ‘Jo ne Aair Desh’ by Jonai unit Asom Natya Sanmilan, ‘Kuladhar Chetia bura hol’ by the Dhemaji unit on February 15, ‘Tejimola’ by Dhemaji unit, Mai Gomdar Konware Kaichu’ by Jorhat on February 16, ‘Raja Jidina Mak hol’ by Macbeth group, ‘Tandori Chicken’ by Sonari, ‘Satra bhonga’ by Dhemaji on February 17 and ‘Matri honta parsuram’ by Bordoloni on February 18 in the book fair pandal.

Moreover, the celebration committee has decided to celebrate the Ali-Aye-Ligang on the session on February 18 with other programmes in the presence of chief secretary of Asom Sahitya Sabha to honour the Mising community’s festival.

The public has demanded the concerned authorities of district to take necessary action for road development of the area to celebrate the conference.
