. I do remember I was there in the inauguration meeting held in some   time around 1983, while the first building in place of open air stage was built up. That time also SM Dev the first time MP then inaugurated the hall. I was with the club ShantoSena then. It's cultural secretary. After that I my self organized or performed various progrummes under various cultural and socio political organisation there. I was with the Barak Upatyaka Sangram Samanway Samiti, which had a office in it's first floor for several years. The Corous-Third theatrical organisation was its sister organisation. We rehearsed for a few third theater there for good number of days in the late eighties.  The whole event made me nostagic enough .

Silchar Drama Institute hall inaugurated

SILCHAR,  Feb 9 – The famous Reading and Dramatic Institute (RDI) hall
situated in the heart of the town was formally inaugurated by Bithika
Dev, MLA and chairperson of Silchar Municipal Board. State Minister for
Urban Development and Housing DP Goala was also present. The function
was presided over by Sudip Dutta, vice-chairman of Silchar Municipal
Board.........
