 DHEMAJI, Feb 11 – The most influential literary organisation in Assam, Sahitya Sabha is celebrating its 70th biennial conference at Dhemaji at Sukapha Pathar Samannay Khetra from February 14 to 18 with a five-day-long programme. Massive preparations for the Sahitya sabha session are on in full swing with equal enthusiasm. A reception committee has been constituted for the celebration with Dr Puspa Gogoi as president, Bhavishya Dihingia as executive president and Dr Amiya Bhuyan as chief secretary.

Various sub-committees are working hard day and night to make the celebration a success.

According to reception committee sources, Dhemaji session of Asam Sahitya Sabha will be a significant event with staging drama, Bhaona and theatre along with other programmes such as cultural performances.

As notice the construction of a big pandal of 160x300 feet with capacity to accommodate 20,000 people is about to be completed. The construction work of the main gate venues of 316 exhibition stalls 300 book fairs, other commercial cells and the kitchen with a massive dinning has where 12,000 people can partake of meals at a stretch have already been completed.

The literary sub-committee has edited 13 books by for release during the sabha session.

As informed by the chief secretary of the reception committee, 5,000 volunteers have also been trained up for smooth conduct of the session.

According to the agenda at 10 am on the February 17 a colourful cultural procession with newly-elected president of Asam Sahitya Sabha Rong Bong Terang will be taken out.

Dr Amiya Bhuyan, chief secretary of the reception committee appealed to all sections of the people of Dhemaji as well as of the state to make the Dhemaji session a success.
