In an exclusive interview to CNN-IBN, *Bangladesh's Minister of State for
Foreign Affairs, Hasan Mahmud *has told CNN-IBN that the new
government in *Dhaka
has "mutually agreed with India to handover" ULFA's founder Anup Chetia*,
who has been in Bangladeshi Jail since 1996.

"We have mutually agreed on the handover, now we have to decide on the
fromalities of how to handover. It will also include handover of Bangladeshi
criminals who have fled to India,"
*Hasan Mahmud told CNN-IBN's National Affairs Correspondent Sumon K
Chakrabarti in Dhaka.



Mahmud, who is also a special assistant to Sheikh Hasina Wazed, told CNN-IBN
that previous Bangladeshi governments since 2001 has indeed sponsored
terrorism. The minister of state for foreign affairs talks about everything
that Dhaka has chose to avoid for so long. *"Since 2001, the BNP and the
Jamaat-e-Islami had ministers in their government who chanted slogans to
turn Bangladesh into Afghanistan. So they nurtured a range of terrorist
organisations. Terrorism in Bangladesh started and then flourished under
that government," *Mahmud told CNN-IBN in the interview which was broadcast
today.

He was also categorical about cross-border linkages of terrorist groups
based in Bangladesh.

Q> Does HUJI still exist

Hasan Mahmud> Yes, definitely. They are banned, but they are in hideouts now

Q> Are you trying to find out their hideouts?

Hasan Mahmud> Definitely we are trying to find out their locations

Q> Are you going to crackdown on them?

Hasan Mahmud> Yes, crackdown will indeed happen. Because terrorist attacks
which have been happening in the region in the past few months, even in
Mumbai, there are crossborder linkages of these terrorists. Not only Lashker
and HUJI, but other terror organisations also. They trained in Afghanistan,
they were in Pakistan, then they came here (in Bangladesh)
