though public finance was an area which I had found boring - hadn't paid income tax then -- but now it seems interesting - since its global underpinnings - by US decision.

I wonder how India taxes IT cos on profits earned. I know they have stopped tax exemptions for exporters - in many states etc. But exporters are different from foreign profits - done by things manufactured abroad and sold abroad  . I think this would make some firms go Genpact way -- tax havens in Bermuda.  

Hi-tech firms will remain in the US -- otherwise as foreign companies they won't get top-class research tech jobs -- such as defense contracts - needing security clearance -- as  firms in DC area mostly.

I don't think India ever had such a strange law, if any company wanted foreign profits they would go abroad
