The Fish Bearing Tree
Children's play based on a humorous folk story from Nagaland, translated by Sudhamahi Regunathan and adapted for the stage by Nisa Shetty. Adventures of two brothers, smart Asa and silly Manserung and how Asa must use his wits to protect Manserung from the miserable fate that Mang and Tashi plan for him. Directed by Jalabala Vaidya and performed by students of the Akshara Theatre’s Diksha Programme in the Classical Arts

Inauguration of "Romancing India's Northeast: An Akshara Theatre Celebration" by Shri Mani Shankar Aiyar, Minister for Development of North East Region (DONER) and Panchayati Raj, followed by Kamakshi -- a fashion show of Northeastern traditional textiles and costumes and fusion fashion, designed and presented by Vikram Rai Medhi, fashion designer from Guwahati.

Children's play based on a classic Mizo folk tale. Mauruangi is the Cinderella of Mizoram, and suffers many trials and tribulations at the hands of her wicked stepmother and stepsister before emerging triumphant in life and love. Directed and adapted by Anasuya Vaidya and performed by students of the Akshara Theatre’s Diksha Programme in the Classical Arts.

Children's play based on a classic Assamese folk tale translated by Sudhamahi Regunathan. The beautiful and virtuous Jayamala lives a blameless, simple and happy life. She loves and feeds the animals of the surrounding jungles and they too love her. When she is betrayed in love, all of nature rallies around her. Performed as a dance drama choreographed by Parul Mishra and performed by students of the Akshara Theatre’s Diksha Programme in the Classical Arts.
