[Assam] Jorhat Engineering College in dire straits (The Assam Tribune, 18.03.2009)

The same thing is happening with Gauhati University, isn't it? Hope the new VC brings some changes to GU.

Just like, there are new temples are built everywhere in Assam, instead of taking care of the old ones first, new universities/colleges (do not get me wrong, new institutions are needed all over Assam to make them available to all, but not at the cost of the older, the primary ones) are also being built and the older ones are abandoned and are without even the regular/minimum government grants, I assume. Not that the new ones are getting all the grants!
