Earth Hour
 

On Saturday, March 28, people around the globe will be turning off their lights for Earth Hour as part of the worldwide initiative to raise awareness and tackle climate change. Homes and businesses will switch off their lights on Saturday Evening for an hour. In Houston, people are planning to turn of lights from 8:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m., (Houston Time)  
 
Earth Hour began in Sydney in 2007, when 2.2 million homes and businesses switched off their lights for one hour.
 
In 2008, the message had grown into a global sustainability movement, with 50 million people switching off their lights. Global landmarks such as the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, Coliseum in Rome, Opera House in Sydney and Coca Cola billboard in Times Square, New York, all stood in darkness.
 
We encourage people everywhere and in Assam and Seven Sisters in particular to participate in Earth Hour in their own homes by turning off their lights, TVs and other appliances on Saturday evening.
