 NEW DELHI, June 11 – After much delay, Ministry of 
DoNER on Friday cleared a Assam Government proposal for infrastructure 
development of Assam Institute of Management, sanctioning Rs.14.61 crore
 for the Project.The

 proposal pending since 2006 was cleared today ‘after prolonged exchange
 of correspondences between the Ministry of DoNER and Government of 
Assam, official sources said.Ministry of DoNER, Bijoy Krishna Handique, has taken keen 
interest in expeditious sanction of this project, as it is long over 
due. The main components of the proposed project would be construction 
of the Institution and Academic Building at an amount of Rs.6 crore, 
Hostel buildings at an estimated cost of Rs.3.24 crore, in addition to 
residential building and other external services.Handique hoped that both the State 
Government and Institute of Management would take keen interest in early
 completion of the infrastructure so as to provide quality education and
 training to the aspirants of Management studies of the North Eastern 
region in general and Assam in particular.Ministry of DoNER has further sanctioned 
Rs.8.74 crore for comprehensive development plan for College of 
Fisheries for augmenting human resources in Assam under Non-Lapsable 
Central Pool of Resources (NLCPR). The proposal has been under 
consideration for some time. The main components of this project would be administrative 
block, Academic ‘Block, Library, Hostel for Boys and Girls, Quarters for
 Dean, Warden Quarter, Grade-III and IV Quarters, Development of 
Research Farms, a Pavilion, Water Supply System and Electrical 
Sub-Station and Canteen.
