JORHAT, June 11: Keeping an eye on the forthcoming
Assembly polls in 2011, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today started his
election campaign with his development mantras before the people of his
home district Jorhat where he celebrated the forth anniversary of second
consecutive term of his government. In fact, there were many promises
in the CM’s speech, who claimed that his focus is on development of all
classes of people in general and the poor section in particular with
the help of slew of schemes in his two consecutive terms.
Addressing
the gathering at Pitambor Dev Goswami auditorium here, Gogoi said that,
his government has laid top priority on the development of education as
well as the other sectors like health, agriculture, communication etc.
‘’We will set up a women university in Jorhat only for the greater
interest of the development of women education in the State’’, Gogoi
announced and added that, his government has prepared a plan to increase
the number of Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) and education growth
centres as well. ‘’Our government will set up a number of high level
educational institutes comprising all quarters of the state soon’’,
Gogoi said.
Gogoi also promised once again to build a bridge over
Brahmaputra from Jorhat to Lakhimpur via Majuli in the near future. He
made this promise on a number of occasions earlier. He also promised to
introduce a new scheme meant for the meritorious students belonging to
poor section of the society for their higher studies.
Highlighting
the various schemes of his government Gogoi said his government’s
priority is decentralization of power and to attain this objective,
panchyats and autonomous council elections have been organized.
Jorhat
and Mariani legislators Rana Goswami and Rupjyoti Kurmi alongwith CM’s
advisor to the press Debo Kumar Bora were present in the meeting among
others. .
