Ram Da,
Apropos your mail, I could not help a response, after I had gone through a news item.
You mentioned that the Maoists would have been happier if India were to be mortgaged to China, and not the US, as alleged by them.
This morning I had the occasion to espy a news item which states that Chinese construction and other companies have netted many lucrative Indian contracts. Instead of employing Indian labourers, they are bringing in Chinese labourers on the plea that they need 'skilled' labour and Indian workers do not have the skill these Chinese workers have. In fact, these Chinese are allegedly unskilled labourers, and they get Rs.1700/- per day as compared to Rs.80/- ( I suppose it is what the paper mentioned) per day for similarly placed Indians.
Do you think the Maoists would be pleased that the Government of India is allowing the Chinese workers to compete with the Indian workers this uneven way? In that case, they should praise MMS and PM and PC to the skies. May be this piece of news have not reached their jungle hideouts.
And one more thing, if you look into this bit of news, assuming the same to be true, you'll find the analogy as to why the people residing in the USA find it preposterous that their smug democratic country, which is committed to export democracy world wide just like its Chinese counterparts, who try their brand of communism, is a whipping boy in so many parts of the world. The economics and international politics of both these countries are now a days more or less comparable ; difference lies in their relative maturity in the cellars and therefore, the flavours in the noses of the connoisseurs.
I do not think the US citizens like the Chinese gall causing turmoil in their financial sector.
*****************************************************************************************************Right!
Uttam, all these hoodlums need is an excuse (to murder in this case).
**The government has mortgaged the entire wealth of the country: forest
wealth, stones, water, everything, they have mortgaged to the Americans.
This we seriously condemn. This should not happen. They are playing with
fire, so fire naturally burns," said Prasad.**
Perhaps, they would have been real upbeat if India had mortgaged the entire
to communist China or someplace. America is a great whipping boy for these
'champions' of the downtrodden.
It is almost certain, if there was some investigations into the bank
accounts/homes of these people, one would find a lot of ill-gotten wealth.
