>>>>>>>> I distinctly remember that the Arabic teacher (who also substituted in Assamese class) asked me if I would be interested in learning Arabic. Sanskrit won over Arabic and Farsi in my case. I also remember the same teacher describing his Id-ul-Fitr celebration and the meal in a class
without any hesitation, as it should be. Will it happen in today's India?
XXXX Those were the best years of India's life........ post-independence fervour not yet wearing off, people dreaming of good days ahead......
Dilip da, this may still happen; but essentially due to vote bank politics and too many people chasing too few opportunities have distorted the picture somewhat.
Tried Sanskrit in Class VII; barely passed in the half-yearly; was admonished at home. Tried hard, got the highest mark in the class 95% or so in the annual; but got sick of cramming. Switched over to Arabaic; I could not get far with 'Aliph bete se...". Had this Brahminical disorientation of writing the wrong way. So, settled with Geography :-)
Please send the attachment in a personal mail; I could not open it from assam site for reasons not known to me.
