      Hello Everyone,
        We are pleased to announce the launch of the Luit Holidays Travel Portal ( http://www.luitholidaysonline. com
 ) dedicated to the NE Region with a focus on Community participation 
(via our blog) and Interactive Tourism.This is a result of the 
subsequent discussion we (myself, Partha Gogoi, Mr. Rajen Baruah,Mr 
Shantikam Hazarika, Mr Wahid Saleh etc)  had on the FASS Tourism group  
some one year back and teaming up with Bhaskar Baruah, a great 
entrepreneur based in Guwahati, a senior from AEC days and a close 
friend. We felt there's a lack in approach to tourism in the region, be 
it infrastructure, proper marketing efforts,  well documented 
information and above all a complete portal which can cover all aspects 
of tourism like:



 1) Tour Packages (Inbound and Outbound)
 2) Hotels Reservation.
 3) Airline Bookings.
 4) Car Rentals
 and
 above all a comprehensive database of well written articles on the 
region as a knowledge base. We also wanted to introduce the aspect of 
"Interactive Tourism" whereby a

 tourist gets a feel of living the moment at any tourist location that 
he/she visits. 
For example,
 --> Going to Kaziranga just for 
the elephant/jeep safari is incomplete unless they get a feel of the 
living lifestyles of the Mishing & the Karbi people who live in and 
around the Kaziranga National Park....



 --> Going to a Tea Garden to just for the sake of viewing it is 
incomplete unless they experience first hand the art of collecting and 
making tea.
 Interactive Tourism not only provides an interesting way
 of promoting tourism but also provides a means of giving a rich 
cultural insight of the way of life of the Assamese people into the 
hearts and minds of the tourists.




 On the Community front, we want the North East Community to 
contribute to the portal by way of good articles (with pictures if 
possible) of your favorite locations/destinations from the North East 
Region thru our Community blog (http://luitholidaysonline. com/travel-north-east-india/)
 . We have created Categories (a few to start with) and also added 
articles written by our editorial board. Our goal is to make the blog 
the most comprehensive knowledge base for the North East Region 
developed through the efforts of the online community from across the 
world.




 The portal is again work in progress as we are in the process of adding the following:
 1) Airline ticket reservation : We are in the process of a tie-up with the largest online airline reservation site in India.



 2) Outbound Tour Packages: We will be integrating various tour packages
 to other parts of India and the World for the people of the North East 
looking to visit destinations across India and around the globe.
 3) 
We have started building our own Car Rental Network ("Luit on Wheels") 
which will help us in a long way when it comes to the level of 
Customer Service we can provide with our well trained and groomed 
personnel manning the vehicles the tourists rent for their tour 
packages.
