Yes, same experience as Jeremy. The rules in Australia are actually pretty much the same as in the US when it comes to food, nuts, seeds, and mud on your shoes. Things that are machine wrapped/packaged are usually fine simply because they know they've been processed. If you just bring an open bag of trail mix they don't know where you got the nuts. Anyway, they have food dogs at the airport too, so as Faye said, you will be caught.
