Hi Denise
Not an academic paper but this might be an aspect you're interested in.
The UK counselling service for couples, ‘Relate’, for instance, blames sites
such as Friends Reunited for the surge in divorce rates (Barbour, 2005).

Good luck with it.

Subject: [Air-l] Reconnecting with friends online
I'm looking for literature on reconnecting with friends online.
Specifically, I'm starting a project on the way the internet can be used to
search for and re-establish relationships with friends from former life
stages. An initial literature search has generated very little.
If you have done work in this area or are familiar with studies that have
looked at this, I hope you will share.
Thanks in advance.
