[Air-l] american internet penetration stats?

Nancy,

I looked for those numbers some time ago, and didn't come up with  
much.  Some pages have some hints (http://www.cs.columbia.edu/~hgs/ 
internet/population.html) but are not complete.  There wasn't a lot  
of solid data collected then, and there wasn't a reliable way for the  
survey houses to capture movement from 1% to 3% to 5.5% etc.  About  
the best we can do is combine our best guesses from the 1980s and  
early 1990s, make some assumptions about the rate of diffusion, and  
estimate between the estimated points.
