Reader or Professor in Politics or International Relations (Ref AC/173)
The Department of Politics and International Relations at Royal Holloway, University of London, invites applications for the above fully-tenured post, tenable from 1 September 2008 or as soon as possible thereafter.
This expanding Department was founded in August 2004 and has quickly established its research base in cutting-edge areas of the discipline, focused upon three new research centres: the Centre for European Politics, the Centre for Global and Transnational Politics, and the New Political Communication Unit.
Royal Holloway is one of the major Colleges of the federal University of London and is among the elite group of ten university institutions whose departments all hold the top three ratings for research, with scores of 4, 5 and 5*. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate a strong research driven approach to their academic activity in general, including to their teaching.
You will have an outstanding, internationally-recognised record of academic achievement and research leadership. You should also have a record of successful supervision of postgraduate research students and successful applications for research grants. You will be expected to make a significant contribution to the delivery of the Department's undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and to undertake supervision of doctoral students. You will play a full and active role in the development of this busy and intellectually vibrant Department and will significantly strengthen the Department's overall performance in the new HEFCE Research Excellence Framework.
Strong candidates in any area of Politics or International Relations are encouraged to apply.
The salary for a Readership is currently in the range £44,925 - £51,740 (approximately $90,106 - $103,000) pa inclusive of London Allowance. The salary for a Professorship is negotiable, currently STARTING at £53,229 (approximately $106,000) pa inclusive of London Allowance. The college offers a relocation package.
