Conference Summary
The Cyber Emotions Research Center at YeungNam University in South
Korea is holding the 1st Asia Cyber Emotions International Conference
from December 2-3 (Fri-Sat), 2010.
As the online population grows and social interactions are
increasingly influenced by Internet technologies, human emotions have
been observed in online user behaviour. It is important to understand
how online environment catalyses offline emotional characteristics,
and transfers them into e-communities. The workshop aims to bring
scholars working on related academic fields such as social sciences,
computer and information sciences together to examine the (emerging)
issues of feelings concerns the contemporary computer-mediated e-
society. The workshop aims to examine the current and possible
theoretical frameworks and investigate new approaches and techniques
for detecting, measuring and evaluating feelings in cyberspace and the
associated effects.
Topics of interest include but are not limited to:
- Cyber emotion
- Facial expression
- Tools for cyber emotion research
- Online communication
- Methods for detecting and measuring emotion online
We welcome papers reporting on research into any perspective of human
emotions. We particularly welcome papers that describe and apply
innovative methodological approaches. PhD/postgraduate students are
also very welcome to participate in the conference.
The official language for the conference is English. However, we may
be able to provide translators for other languages such as German,
Japanese and Chinese.

Abstract submission
If you would like to participate, please submit your abstract(s) in
PDF format via email to cyberemotions at gmail.com.
Funding up to 600,000 Korean dollars may be available for selected
scholars and students. Funding will cover board and lodging for the
duration of the conference, and in selected cases, air travel to South
Korea by the most economical means. To be considered for the funding,
please submit your CV together with the abstract(s) to cyberemotions at gmail.com
by August 01, 2010.
