My department is hiring this year. I could easily foresee this position being filled by someone who studies new media.

Position: Assistant Professor of Communication (Media Studies), Tenure-track.
The Department of Communication at Lake Forest College seeks applicants for a full-time, tenure-track position at Assistant Professor rank, to commence in August 2011. Ph.D. in communication expected by the time of the appointment.
The person hired to this position will be expected to teach courses related to media studies, including one course dedicated to quantitative and qualitative research methods, in addition to courses with any or all of the following emphases: communication history, journalism, new media, social theory, critical theory, ethnography, and political economy of the media. The successful candidate will be expected to teach beyond any single specialty and will also have an active research program.
The Department of Communication at Lake Forest College is dedicated to two distinct areas in the field of communication: media studies and rhetoric. All teaching in the department is performed with these emphases (and their potential connections) in mind.
