The Center for Digital Ethics & Policy (CDEP) in the School of Communication at Loyola University Chicago is looking for reviewers interested in contributing to our blog which will be launching in September 2010. CDEP is committed to facilitating a community-wide conversation regarding the ethical consequences of new media.
To that end, we are creating a book review section for the web site, which will serve as a resource for academics, journalists, and practitioners. Reviews should be around 500-750 words, written for a general audience, and focus on the ethical implications of the reviewed text. We will provide a copy of the text and a small stipend ($50) for completed reviews.
Currently, we are looking for individuals interested in reviewing the following books:
Carr, The Shallows
Deuze, Media Work
Ess, Digital Media Ethics
Flanagin, Kids and Credibility: An Empirical Examination of Youth, Digital Media Use, and Information Credibility (MacArthur)
Gershon, The Breakup 2.0: Disconnecting over New Media
Gillespie, Wired Shut
Huntemann, Joystick Soldiers: The Politics of Play in Military Video Games
Johns, Piracy
Nissenbaum, Privacy in Context
Solove, Future of Reputation
CDEP is especially interested in publishing the work of graduate students, young faculty, and post-docs. If you are interested in participating, or would like to review a text not on this list, please contact Adrienne Massanari, Program Director at amassanari at luc.edu.
Thanks,
Adrienne Massanari
