The School of Journalism and Electronic Media
(http://www.cci.utk.edu/jem) at the University of Tennessee is seeking
an outstanding teacher and scholar to join the faculty as assistant
professor in August 2011.  

 

We are looking for a person who can teach journalism skills across
multiple media platforms. The candidate should have media experience,
teaching experience, and a demonstrated record of research and
publishing capabilities. Preference will be given to candidates with a
background in emerging media and the ability to teach in at least one of
the following areas in addition to journalism skills classes: media
ethics, media law, international/intercultural communication, or media
management.  A Ph.D. in the field is required at the time of
appointment. 

 

Faculty members are expected to teach, be active scholars, and carry out
service activities in the school, college, university, and profession.

 

The School of Journalism and Electronic Media is one of four schools in
the College of Communication and Information. JEM is an
ACEJMC-accredited program, and is an active participant in the College's
MS and Ph.D. programs.  The School houses student media that include
Scoop Magazine (http://issuu.com/scoop), WUTK-90.3 FM
(http://www.wutkradio.com), and the Tennessee Journalist (tnjn.com), a
student-run news website.  The successful candidate will join a
converged journalism program with specialties in news, magazine, media
management, science communication, visual communication and sports
journalism.

 

The University of Tennessee in Knoxville is the flagship university in a

Tennessee River, Knoxville is within a day's drive of many major
