Call for Papers for ‘Picteilín’ Creative Media conference at
the Dundalk Institute of Technology, September 8th, 2011

The digital media sector is one of the most dynamic sectors of a knowledge
economy, with the creative origination that underpins the creative media
industries affording much potential for experimentation. This conference
aims to provide a platform for Irish and International academics,
postgraduate students and practitioners to share knowledge and expand the
boundaries of research that pivot on pixels.
Contributions are sought under the following themes:
• Creative Media Content Creation and Technologies
• Creative Pedagogy and Transformative work practices
• Media, Culture, Community and Society
• New Media Narrative Form
It is envisioned that there will be short and long academic research
papers, practical exhibition installations, poster sessions, games and
screenings.
We invite proposal abstracts to a maximum of 350 words, which may be
accompanied by supporting visual material. There will be an award
presented at the conference for the best submission.
Postgraduate students, academics and practitioners who are not presenting
at the conference are also encouraged to attend this event. To record your

The conference fee is 30 Euro and there will be an additional 20 Euro fee
for an optional social event. Registration will take place on the day of
the conference. Advice regarding local accommodation and transport will be
