Dear Cory,
I would look into one issue, not central to your research but important, which is disparities in facial recognition based on race. Start by watching Joy Buolamwini's TEDx talk on this subject.

MIT grad student Joy Buolamwini was working with facial recognition software when she noticed a problem: the software didn't recognize her face -- because the people ...

Hey Cory,
Not so sure I'd be bold enough to claim 'seminal' status, but if you can get your hands on this chapter, it gives what we thought was a pretty good overview of biometric authentication at the time, including privacy issues:

Working on a pilot study that trials facial recognition technology to identify individuals in group settings. Any seminal or "must reads" on ethics and privacy issues of facial recognition and other biometrics?
Best,
Cory
