[Air-L] research on memes

I also have a fairly recent chapter on Memes that deals with some of their
uses in political protest.  It can be found in this book:
http://www.jstor.org/stable/10.5749/j.ctt14jxw02, but I can also send along
a PDF to anyone who is interested.

I also memes in my teaching to help students investigate some of the ways
in which memes as a visual language can be used to confront current
events.  I like to ask students to work in pairs to make memes that could
be used as part of the conversation around a current issue that is
important to them.  We tend to use simple websites like
https://memegenerator.net/ to generate these memes in class.
