[Air-L] Funding for digital politics research?

Dear AoIR folks,

I’m starting a collaboration with a couple of poli sci colleagues here at UTSA, and we’re seeking funding to expand an initiative that helps us collect social media data for study by digital politics scholars. Right now this consists of a Twitter data collection application that collects tweets from international organizations but could easily be expanded to collect tweets from just about any other type of actor or Twitter interactions. We’re also interested in expanding this data collection to Facebook, Instagram, email, and other platforms.

Do any of you know of funding sources for an initiative like this? Please think broadly and let me know if you think of anything.
