Call for Working Research Group/Track Applications: Consumer Well-being in a Cashless Culture

Deadline to Apply: November 1, 2020 at 11:59pm EST (submit 300-500 word research vision + CV)

Decision Notification: December 1, 2020

Transformative Consumer Research Virtual Conference: June 28-29, 2021 (https://tcr2021.mcintire.virginia.edu/)

Cashless culture embodies what, when, and how we consume, catapulted by technological advancements in digital payment platforms (e.g., Venmo, GoFundMe, ApplePay). This track of the Transformative Consumer Research (TCR) Conference* seeks to critically examine the sociocultural facets of cashless culture (e.g., people, processes, technologies) and the transformative capabilities of cashless culture for consumer well-being. For this track, we seek policymakers, cross-disciplinary researchers, and industry experts with diverse interests in consumer well-being and cashless culture.

For more details on the track and what to expect, click here: https://tcr2021.mcintire.virginia.edu/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Track-Description.pdf

*NOTE: The TCR Conference is a dialogical conference in which small groups of researchers generate new contributions. In other words, you don’t apply with a ‘paper’ or ‘presentation’ -- rather, you collectively develop new research with others in the track. Articles from this TCR Conference will be submitted to a special issue of the Journal of Consumer Affairs, among other outlets in the areas of digital media and cultural studies. For more information about TCR and previous publications, click here: https://www.acrwebsite.org/web/tcr/foundational-readings

To apply to join the ‘Consumer Well-being in a Cashless Culture’ track, you must submit a 300-500 word ‘Statement of Your Research Vision’ along with your CV. Unlike other conferences, where a team of authors submit a paper, applicants to this conference apply as a single individual. For more information about How to Apply, click here: https://tcr2021.mcintire.virginia.edu/how-to-apply/

The application portal can be found here, under “Track 1-11: Consumer Well-being in a Cashless Culture”: https://tcr2021.mcintire.virginia.edu/track-1/
