General Call for Proposals:
The AI & Culture area welcomes proposals on all things related to
Artificial Intelligence.
Topics include, but are not limited to:
- Scholarship done by, or with the assistance of, AI
- AI as a cultural phenomenon, including scholarship about popular
culture works that directly or indirectly treat AI as a subject matter
- AI as a phenomenon that can impact culture
- Creative works "by" AI, as well as critiques saying that such works
are inherently not "creative"
- Scholarship about any of those things mentioned so far
- "AI perspectives" on any of those things mentioned so far
Important Considerations:
- All perspectives regarding AI are welcome. We expect all participants,
including those with opposing viewpoints ("AI advocate" and "AI resistant
critic"), to be polite and civil towards each other.
- Every presentation must have a human who claims responsibility for it,
even if it is prepared primarily or exclusively by AI.
- A human must present at the in-person conference, even if an AI is
capable of doing so.
- As AI becomes more capable, these rules are subject to change.
- Humans are expected to engage in full disclosure about the extent to
which AI contributed to the work and should be willing to engage in
discussions about that.
- Please note that as AI is impacting many areas, some proposals may be
more suitable for other areas. Contact the Area Chair if you are uncertain.
Panel Submissions: The Area Chair welcomes thematically linked panel
submissions. Please contact the Area Chair to discuss potential panel ideas.
Interdisciplinary Approaches: We encourage interdisciplinary approaches
that explore the intersection of AI and various cultural domains.
