We would like to invite you to check this Call for Chapter Proposals for the Handbook of Knowledge, Technologies and Innovation in the Gray Zones to be published in the Research Handbooks in Science and Technology Studies series, edited by Dominique Vinck for Edward Elgar Publishing. This volume will bring together innovative scholarship to explore themes such as creativity by necessity, antagonistic innovation, collective resourcefulness, adaptive learning, ephemeral infrastructures, and technological repair, grounded in empirical research across informal settlements, criminal economies, and conflict zones. Rather than treating these spaces as marginal or pathological, the handbook reclaims them as generative arenas where constraint and asymmetry actively shape technological emergence.
Kew dates: Proposal deadline April 30, 2026 / Full chapter submission September 30, 2026.
