Deemed University: State to move Centre on Cotton

  GUWAHATI, Aug 25 – The State Government has decided to submit to the Centre all the necessary documents with regard to the proposed deemed university status to the Cotton College. This was following a meeting of State Education Minister Ripun Bora with a delegation of the Cotton College Teachers Union yesterday.

Meanwhile, the State Government had issued a directive for payment of teachers’ salary through cheques. From now onwards teachers will be able to open accounts in any nationalized or RBI-approved rural banks and receive their salary. 

The Education Department is also taking all measures to ensure that the teachers get their salary (August and September) in time before the Durga puja.
