Dear Ginima,

Appended below, please see my letter to Mr. Pankaj Saharia dated December 5, 2006. Your suggestion to dedicate the cultural  program to the memory of Anima Chakravarty is a wonderful idea for which we are all thankful to you. In addition to that, I request the host committee of Boston Convention  to consider if they will like to organize the formation of the "Anima Chakravarty Memorial Music Trust" which will perpetuate the original suggestion of Pankaj to "help a budding singer from Assam".  

The initial struggle of a "budding singer" is so hard that most of the budding singers wither away early in their lives --- like a flower that fell on ground before it could bloom, like a brook that lost its way in a dry, dreary desert (I am quoting Tagore from memory) --- and the country becomes deprived of talents. The suggestion of helping them is a marvellous idea of Pankaj which should be supported by everybody. The details can be worked out only if everybody will scrutinize the topic and come forward with their questions and suggestions. I thank you for keeping the discussion active.

  Subject: Special Event in Honour of Anima Chakravarty at Assam Convention.

  Dear Pankaj,

  These are very good suggestions. I particularly like your idea of building funds for a scholarship for "budding" singers of Assam. The scholarship should be drawn from the interest, so that the fund --- kind of an Endowment Trust Fund --- will remain intact forever, carrying the name of Anima forever. I suggest a name "Anima Chakravarty Memorial Music Trust" which should be invested only in Government Securities. The scholarship should be awarded to promote budding musicians "before" they are recognized by the media. 

  All these details should be discussed in the Internet media. These are positive steps which should be the motto of Assamese people. We must thank Mr. Barada Sarma for coming up with the original idea. Everyone should come forward with their positive suggestions. A "Trust Committee" should be organized, registered and incorporated as a non-profit tax-exempt corporation. The intial donation should not be more than US$100/- , and, there should be a recognition of donors,  so that more and more people will come forward to donate funds for the "Anima Chakravarty Memorial Music Trust". The donors should know that their donations will remain intact, only the interest will be spent in awarding the scholarship. All these details should be worked out through mutual discussion.
