  Dear Pankaj,

  These are very good suggestions. I particularly like your idea of building funds for a scholarship for "budding" singers of Assam. The scholarship should be drawn from the interest, so that the fund --- kind of an Endowment Trust Fund --- will remain intact forever, carrying the name of Anima forever. I suggest a name "Anima Chakravarty Memorial Music Trust" which should be invested only in Government Securities. The scholarship should be awarded to promote budding musicians "before" they are recognized by the media. 

  All these details should be discussed in the Internet media. These are positive steps which should be the motto of Assamese people. We must thank Mr. Barada Sarma for coming up with the original idea. Everyone should come forward with their positive suggestions. A "Trust Committee" should be organized, registered and incorporated as a non-profit tax-exempt corporation. The intial donation should not be more than US$100/- , and, there should be a recognition of donors,  so that more and more people will come forward to donate funds for the "Anima Chakravarty Memorial Music Trust". The donors should know that their donations will remain intact, only the interest will be spent in awarding the scholarship. All these details should be worked out through mutual discussion.

    Dear Barthakurda,

    Anima Baideu was our neighbor at Guwahati. She was an integral part of the Convention. We are going to miss her dearly.

    My personal thoughts are:

    1. We should dedicate the cutural programs at the Boston Convention to her memory. Perhaps start the special event with 'Banti Prajwalan', observe minute's silence, let the AANA office bearers including the audience who knew her well say few words about their personal experiences with her. Someone (including guest artists) can sing her popular songs. 

    2. I don't know if the quiz competition on Assam led by Mr.Rathindev Choudhury is an annual affair any more. But we can introduce a trophy in Anima Baideu's name that will go to each year's winner of the quiz competition. 

    3. Introduce a scholarship in her name to help a budding artist from Assam.

    We can discuss about it at our next meeting.

      Forwarded please find a letter from Mr. Barada Sarma. I completely agree with Mr. Barada Sarma that  a Special Event in honour of the late Anima Chakravarty should be held at Assam Convention 2007 in Boston. I knew Anima since she was a baby girl --- our grandmothers were sisters --- her death is an inconsolable tragedy in our family. 

      Mr. Prithwi Thakuria, Cultural Secretary of Assam Convention 2007 Committee, asked me to stage my drama DWEEP at the Assam Convention 2007 in Boston. I advise  that whatever time & funds were allocated for that event may please be used to hold a Special Event as a tribute to Anima, as suggested by Mr. Barada Sarma.  

      I request all Assamese friends to forward their suggestions how the tribute to Anima can be made a memorable event.

      This matter may please be discussed at the next  Board Meeting of Assam Convention 2007 in Boston.
