Dont quite understand how this issue has any relevance to the holler for "Free" Axom.
If I were an American and my children were to be born in India with Indian passports, and if I were to be callous enough to forget carrying the visas along, would the American immigration be letting the children in with NO VISAS?
This is nothing but a ruse to cover up one's own carelessness.
Rgds,
Sandip

SInce the kids were from US --the US benchmarks should apply. Once the immigration people have taken the decision even the US president cannot overturn thhat decision. The visa officer /Port of entry officer is the final authority. Her word is final.
So should be for India.

So Umesh -your world Humanity Benchmarks are Uncle Sam/-War on-Terror/,Dept.of homeland security!
Not plain common sense-which is not common in India. Leaderships minds are totally blocked-nor allowed by the rules-in this age of instant universal communication in Hi-Tech nation India solving worlds' needs in communication!
Even Sonia Gandhi/MMS/Kalam should have intervened and welcomed the boys!

BTW, rude is not the right word, and comparison to NRIs behavior does not make in this case.
Is there any lesson we learnt
from the case?
I think Yes!
Sorry, nothing can be done about it. We are Indians, unpredictable and insensitive Indian middle class, ever.

Here the govt official is rude but aren't NRIs rude too when they wave their American
passport and demand special treatment in India? White skinned people do not behave like Sahibs and Memsahibs anymore in India
