[Assam] What a shame

Hi Momy,

I think C'da put it very well.

But I understand your frustrations about students NOT being helped etc.
Many of us participating on this net have been students. And as students we
too had to go through the same myraid of problems that students often face.
But the fact that you are in the UK or US, tells many of us that you have
the gumption and the wherewithal to come overseas.

That could happen in the US as well (or even Delhi or Mumbai). IMHO, event
organization is a tough business, and usually a thankless one in the end.
Yes, sometimes someone does get left out - but usually it is not out of
intent.
But, if you or others felt slighted, it would seem appropriate for you to
join these select group of organizers and show them how to make things
happen.

This has been done before - suggestions for aspiring students. I remember
reading in the AT, many years ago, articles on the subject.

The second part, you missed is an important one.
Many of us who came here many, many years ago, are now totally cluless about
the new immigration rules, tests, or studies that could help aspiring
students.
Something like this has to be a student effort - because they know the
situation much better than us old foggies.
Young Assamese have several sites devoted just to talk about their issues -
one I know is called Texamese.

Really!  How do you know we are the 'same kind' ? I will just leave it at
that.

Noble thoughts, no doubt. And if you didn't come along and tell us about
this, we would all have been lost souls. :)

I am sorry that you think the best way for you to be heard is to quit the
net. But I hope you will change your mind and take part in the discussions.
As lousy as you may see the net, it is one of the few sounding boards many
netters have.
